Its DOMO not HOMO

Working On: Getting all of the images I want to open in Lightbox.

     I finally took the plunge and started to download some Wordpress plugins, problem is, hopefully I will be able to stop sometime soon! Lol I have recently installed the Live comment preview, that shows what your comment will look like AS your typing it! :D Try it out and leave me a comment! The second thing I downloaded was the Lightbox plug-in. If you don’t know what Lightbox is or does then your clearly not a web designer and thats cool too. To see what it does simply click one of my “Recent Work” Icons and the image should show up in a cool, self-adjusting container. Thats all it does, it seems like nothing but it makes the site seem much cooler, in my eyes at least, and I love it. It took about an hour for me to figure it out, but I finally figured it out! :D

     HOKAY! So now to the post title and what thats all about. For a late Christmas gift Shannon and Nico gave me 3 Domos!!!! I was SO FRICKING HAPPY!!!!! I LOVE DOMO! I have no idea why, I have no idea what he is from, what he does but he looks so cool and he is just awesome!. Well anyway they got me a big brown one, a little brown one with a pink guitar (kinda gay) and a big pink one! IT WAS A BIG DOMO FAMILY!!! Below is a picture I took just about seconds after I received them.

     And did I name them you ask!?! OF COURSE!!!!! The big pink one (the mom) Is Kristen Domo, the big brown one (the dad) is Papa Domo and the little one (that hangs in my car, and the offspring of the dad and mom) is Little Kid DOMO!!! Muahhaha! Creative names? I THINK SO!!!!

     Lastly, because I need to make this post short because my mom is bitching at me to leave so we can go get bread and then eat at Panera. Is the amazing song I am listening to now. Its All the Right Moves by One Republic. I LOVE IT! And the only thing I love more than this song right now? THE VIDEO!!!!! Check it out! Its amazing! Enjoy GUYS!

Um yeah let me just tell you, if you ever plan on getting your own domain, don’t ever buy hosting from a super cheap hosting site like rigrag or anything they’re affiliated with because they buy their master resellers from other sites & so on & so forth. So when their servers go down, so does rigrag’s, & then so does yours & it’s just epic fail. & then you just want to kill yourself. I’ve had THE WORST luck with servers, let me tell you.

I finally bought hosting from a legit hosting site & although it may be a rip off, it guarantees 24/7 support & so far, I’ve had NO problems. Support is really fast too.

Anyway, I LOVE DOMO! I don’t know where he’s from either to be honest, but he’s so incredibly adorable. I’ve seen so many layouts featuring domo.

Lightbox is amazing! Glad you took my advice & decided to go for it. It makes your site look really fancy. Clicking images to a blank page = so lame. Lightbox is the way to go! A lot of news outlets use it. You’d be surprised!

Try out this band that I discovered like last year (more like december) called As Tall As Lions. Listen to their song “Love, Love, Love (Love, Love)”. It’s my favorite by them.

Oh Georgina told me about this wordpress plugin called WP DB. It backs up your wordpress database so you’ll never have to worry about losing your database!

Wait if you don’t know what a database is that means you didn’t install wordpress so I’m guessing Kendra installed it for you.

Well, I guess I’ll just give you a mini lecture on what a database is just so you know just that much more about what’s behind the hood.

Alright so WordPress is a blogging system that requires a database so that it can process all of the functions it needs to. These functions include comments, changing your settings, theme settings, & blogging. The database stores this information every time you change it within your dashboard.

WordPress has a config file that is within your WordPress directory that has all of your database information. Since you’re a sub-domain, you don’t have any control over your database whatsoever. Kendra does because she’s the one with the cpanel.

Wordpress requires a MySQL database. Let’s say you wanted to move over to a new domain but you didn’t want to lose your blogs. Kendra could make a back up of your mysql database for you so that when you move over (& let’s assume you have a cpanel on this new domain), you’d just ask for the file, upload it within this program called PHPMyAdmin (it controls the databases) & then BOOM, your entire site is back besides the images you’d need to re-upload & your layouts/plugins/what not. But all of your pages, settings, comments, & blogs would still alll be there.

OR you could back-up your own wordpress by simply going to tools > export. Then you’ll have downloaded an .xml file that you can re-upload to a new wordpress account & all your stuff will come back. Prettty neat right? When I figured out all of this stuff, it’s when I basically fell in love with WordPress & how EFFIN AMAZING IT IS.

But there is a plugin that backs up your wordpress for you so you’ll never ever have to worry about losing your stuff if your server crashes. I’d back up every weekend if I were you. But I’m sure Kendra is on a stable server. :)

Exactly! DOMO IS FREAKING AMAZING, and i totally agree lol idk why i like him or where he came from lol but i know there is like a domo show on nickolodeon, or there used to be lol the big brown one is my favorite!

Haven’t talked in quite a while. Congrats on installing all your plugins. I’m not smart enough to know how to use wordpress. It’s too complicated. :(
I might try it some time later though. :)
And congrats on your little DOMO family. The names are really cute. I didn’t know they were called “domo”. I just thought of them as little cute monsters. :D
